Baldwin New York Homes For Sale

Baldwin stretches roughly two miles wide and five miles long from mid-Long Island to its southern bayfront shores. In the usual and often bewildering Long Island manner, Baldwin is an unincorporated hamlet within Nassau County's town of Hempstead.

Home prices are in the midrange for Nassau County, from the high $250,000's to well into the $600,000's and sometimes considerably higher. While they are typical for South Shore areas, they are substantially below prices in most North Shore Nassau communities. Others value the quick commute to Manhattan, a 40-minute ride from the Long Island Rail Road station in Baldwin. For families with children, a consistent draw is the Baldwin Union Free School District, which holds a place among Nassau's high-performance public school systems.

Baldwin also has one very large, amenity-filled waterfront park, the town of Hempstead's Baldwin Harbor Park, and is about 15 minutes from the acclaimed ocean beaches of Jones Beach State Park. Roosevelt Field Mall, the largest regional shopping mall on Long Island, is about 15 minutes away.

The Baldwin Public Library has undergone a recent renovation and now offers a number of series to the surrounding community. In 2003, Baldwin was name one of the 100 best small town to reside and I believe it still is in 2015.
