Seaford History

The development of the present day town of Seaford was initiated by Captain John Seaman, a native of the village of Seaford, England. The town was initially known as Jerusalem South, and adopted its current name in 1868. At one point in time, the town was also referred to as Seaman's Neck. During the late 1800s, Seaford became a popular summer retreat for residents of New York City.
